A Beast on a Budget: My Experience with the XFX Radeon RX 7900 XTX

I’ll be the first to admit, I was skeptical about diving back into the world of graphics cards after my Nvidia experience went awry. But, something about AMD’s 24GB of VRAM just called to me, and I found myself eyeing up the XFX Radeon RX 7900 XTX. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

From the moment I unwrapped the card, I was struck by its sleek design and imposing presence on my desktop. The black finish gleams under even the most subtle lighting conditions, and the XFX logo is prominent enough to make a statement. It’s clear that this card is meant to be taken seriously.

But what really sets the RX 7900 XTX apart is its performance. I’ve spent hours benchmarking it against other high-end graphics cards, and the results are nothing short of astonishing. The card’s boost clock speed of up to 2615 MHz makes short work of even the most demanding AAA games at 4K resolutions.

Take Dead Space Remake for example – a notoriously demanding title that pushes even the best cards to their limits. On my RX 7900 XTX, I was getting an astonishing 90-120 frames per second, a significant improvement over my old Nvidia card. The same performance was replicated in Total War: Warhammer and Final Fantasy Rebirth, games that are notorious for their ray tracing capabilities.

And it’s not just these flagship titles that the RX 7900 XTX can handle with ease – I’ve also seen impressive performance from COD: Black Ops Cold War at 240-290 FPS, with FSR enabled. Kingdom Come: Deliverance and The Witcher 3 were similarly smooth, thanks to the card’s 24GB of GDDR6 memory.

One of the things that really impressed me about this card was its temperature management. At around 60 degrees Celsius when playing 4K at max settings, it’s clear that XFX has invested in some serious cooling technology – I wasn’t even concerned by the noise output during prolonged gaming sessions.

I’ve got to say, after spending countless hours with the RX 7900 XTX, I’m thoroughly impressed. For a card that’s just under two years old, its performance is still more than respectable – especially when you factor in the 24GB of memory and the impressive cooling system. If you’re looking for a high-end graphics card on a budget, I’d highly recommend giving this one a shot.
